METEOR CRATER IS HERE

Meteor Crater, also known as "Barringer Crater," is a giant hole, measuring 570 feet deep and a mile wide. This crater was on the receiving end of a meteorite that struck the sandstone desert some 50,000 years ago. The hole is surrounded by a rim of mish mash of large boulders that rises 150 feet above the surrounding area.
According to BarringerCrater.com, when Europeans discovered the crater, the plain around it was covered with over 30 tons of meteoritic iron chunks over an area that spanned eight to ten miles in diameter.
This giant crater is located off Interstate 40, about 43 miles east of Flagstaff, AZ.
