WINTER RECREATION CAN BE FOUND IN THIS REGION
Contrary to what many probably believe, Winter does visit the Grand Canyon region.
Word has it there's some great downhill skiing in Flagstaff, AZ, just 70 miles south of Grand Canyon's South Rim, and excellent snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to be enjoyed on the North Rim, which is situated 1,000 feet higher than the South Rim.
The White Mountains, and the Mogollon Rim regions of Arizona provide higher elevations and therefore some great winter recreation.
But I'll have to get back to you on specifics. (Still working on this story. It will be worth the wait, though!)
