Getting Around Inside Grand Canyon National Park

Guided bus tours and hiker shuttles are two options for navigating the Grand Canyon.

Once you get to the Grand Canyon, how do you get around? Here are some options.

Shuttle To and From North Rim and South Rim

The Trans-Canyon Shuttle runs between the north and south rims of the park once each day, in each direction, and the travel time is about 4 1/2 hours each way. This is the only means of public transportation between the rims aside from hiking or driving yourself.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 928-638-2820. Scheduled service is available between mid-May and mid-October.

Hiker Shuttle at North Rim

A shuttle from the Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim to the North Kaibab trailhead is available twice daily in the morning. Purchase tickets at Grand Canyon Lodge front desk. The passenger pick-up is in front of the lodge. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

Free South Rim Shuttle

Ride the park’s free shuttle buses and save fuel. TheĀ free shuttle buses operate in and around the South Rim’s Grand Canyon Village. No tickets are required and bus stops are clearly marked throughout the park by signs.
