Winter in the Grand Canyon Photo Gallery

Snow adds another color to the Grand Canyon palette.

Even with all of the winter sunshine, significant snowfall can be expected during the winter with an average snowfall of 50 to over 100 inches per year on the Rim, and occasionally snow will make it even to the river. Most of the snow accumulates at the North Rim which is closed during the winter, but these Grand Canyon winter photos show the South Rim with a beautiful blanket of white over red rock.
