Things to Do in Park City
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast head to Cole Sport, a one-stop shop for local advice, gear and rentals. Then, hit the city’s 400-plus miles of trails on bike or on foot to get a taste of this mountain town. The 4.7-mile Silver Lake Trail is a hiker-only destination ending in gorgeous valley views and the nearby, moderate Flagstaff Loop offers the same views atop a mountain bike.
If you have kids, point yourself toward Park City Mountain Resort, a world-class ski destination in winter, headquarters of family fun in summer. With an alpine slide, zipline and mountain coaster, your little ones will be all smiles at the end of the day. Deer Valley Resort also offers world-class summer mountain biking experiences. Don’t forget to check out Woodward Action Sports Park, which teaches everything from BMX biking to snowboarding in a safe environment, including foam pits.
Or, experience what it’s like to be an Olympian at the 400-acre Utah Olympic Park just outside of Park City. Home to a number of events during the 2002 Winter Olympics, the center has two free museums, adventure courses and the bobsled ride, which sends you 65 miles per hour (on wheels in the summer) down the Olympic luge, bobsled and skeleton course. Watch for winter freestyle athletes launching off ski jumps and landing in the center’s pools.
Trade Dirt Paths for City Sidewalks
You don’t have to leave the trails just because the sun goes down. Trade dirt paths for city sidewalks as you head to Main Street for al fresco dining. This picturesque street includes a dozen outdoor, curbside dining decks, allowing you to take in the beauty of the Utah mountains while enjoying dinner.
“It feels like you’ve been transported to another era,” says Dan Howard, Park City’s director of communications, of the 47 historic buildings set against the stunning mountain backdrop.
Get off the beaten trail for outdoor dining on Kearns Boulevard, home of the stunning Kimball Arts Center. After perusing the Kimball’s gallery featuring local and global artists, grab a drink at The Boneyard, which has an amazing rooftop patio. When you’re ready for dinner, Tupelo is one of Park City’s favorite restaurants. Featuring regional ingredients like Idaho trout and locally raised pork, the menu is full of mouthwatering dishes with global influences.
Park City Events
Park City is home to many world-renowned events. The Utah Symphony will headline the Deer Valley Music Festival with guest artists performing an eight-week schedule at the outdoor Snow Park Amphitheatre where you can get incredible views while taking in live music. On June 24, 2023, Savor the Summit will take over Main Street with a three-block-long table featuring many local restaurants. Make sure to buy your tickets early. Most Sundays throughout the summer you’ll find the Park Silly Sunday Market which features local food and crafts. The Kimball Arts Festival takes over Main Street the first weekend of August.
Explore Beyond
Park City is just one gem in a surrounding area waiting to be explored. Get off the beaten trail and explore the Union Pacific Trail State Park, beginning in Park City and extending 25 beautiful miles. Local rivers are home to blue-ribbon fly-fishing and a truly adventurous day isn’t complete without a pilgrimage to High West Distillery in Wanship. This local joint isn’t something you’d just stumble upon without knowing it was there. The second you walk in the doors, you’ll get a sense of Utah’s prohibition-era history. With a great patio, live music and distillery tours, it’s a great place to spend part of your day. Brunch is a local favorite with delicious cocktails and a menu shaped by the distillery’s signature whiskeys. Think French Toast with whiskey syrup.

Park City is committed to sustainability and encourages visitors to join in recreating more responsibly. The town has set an goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions and zero waste by 2030. When you visit, opt to use the town’s bike-friendly transit system and leave your car in the parking lot. It’s easy to access restaurants, trails and more.
