One of the most unique ways to experience Grand Canyon and its great abyss is by flying over it.

Flights are offered daily, and visitors can choose from a fixed-wing airplane tour over the Grand Canyon or a helicopter tour.

All scenic air tours of Grand Canyon are based outside of Grand Canyon National Park.

The most popular helicopter tours and scenic airplane tours originate and start just south of Grand Canyon's South Rim, at the airport in Tusayan, AZ. Scenic flight tours are also available starting in Las Vegas, Phoenix and other cities in the greater Grand Canyon region.

The average length for a helicopter tour is about 45-60 minutes. There are also shorter helicopter tours of 25-30 minutes. Prices may vary depending on what helicopter tour company used. Popular helicopter tour companies include Grand Canyon Helicopters, Papillion Grand Canyon Helicopters, and Maverick Helicopter.

The Hualapai Tribe in Grand Canyon West offers the only helicopter flight 4,000 feet down to the canyon below for a boat ride on the river.
