Travel through a rugged wilderness in the comfort of a luxury locomotive.

Verde Canyon Railroad offers a wilderness adventure descending 1,800 feet into the Upper Verde River Canyon, one of Arizona's grandest natural areas. These views from the base of soaring, rugged rock faces and remarkable vistas along the crystal waters of the Verde River can only be reached by rail. They don't go to the edge of an impressive canyon; they go through one.

The train passes towering redrock pinnacles, near ancient ruins, over fortified trestles, past a magnificent monocline fold, and through a manmade 680-foot tunnel. The four-hour rail journey takes you from the old mining town of Clarkdale to the Perkinsville ghost ranch and back.

Expert narration and seasoned car attendants share an appreciation of the history, archaeology, geology, wildlife, and lore of the Verde Canyon. All cars can access open-air seats for 360 degrees of outstanding photo opportunities, which make the train experience unlike any other. With unique seating choices, charming décor, and friendly informative attendants, you will take pleasure in the beauty of this remote wilderness without sacrificing the luxury of comfort.
